YARDHAUS® Launches Pillar Pro™ — The Architectural Lighting Frame You Can Install in 90 Minutes
A new, design-led framework brings overhead ambiance to backyards without the cost or complexity of a pergola.
Grand Rapids, MI — November 2025 — YARDHAUS®, a design-led company advancing the architecture of outdoor lighting, today announced the launch of Pillar Pro™, a modular structural system that allows homeowners to safely mount overhead lighting anywhere — no footings, no digging, no permanent construction.
For decades, homeowners have had only few options for adding overhead lighting to their outdoor spaces: temporary poles that wobble and weather, or permanent pergolas that require major cost and construction. Most decks simply weren’t designed to incorporate overhead lighting, which is why so many feel bright but not inviting.
Pillar Pro™ introduces a stable, architectural structure that allows lights to be where they should be — overhead — illuminating people instead of the ground beneath them. The result is an outdoor space where people naturally gather, stay longer, and return more often.
“Overhead lighting is what makes a space feel like a place,” said Michael Carpenter, Founder of YARDHAUS.
“Most outdoor spaces were never built to hold it. Pillar Pro™ gives homeowners a simple, architectural way to bring light above eye level, where it brings people together.”
Engineered from black anodized aluminum with stainless hardware and a patented compression system, Pillar Pro™ delivers the clarity and modern proportion of a pergola — at a fraction of the cost, footprint, and installation time.
Expanded Function Through a Modular Accessory Bracket
Pillar Pro now supports multiple lighting types — including outdoor-rated pendants — through a clean, modular accessory bracket.
The same bracket also accommodates select lightweight accessories such as small speakers or security cameras, helping homeowners keep function consolidated overhead and off railings or surfaces.
The idea for YARDHAUS began in Carpenter’s Grand Rapids workshop, driven by a personal search for better outdoor lighting. After discovering the structural gap that homeowners continually improvised around, he partnered with Sprout Studios, an award-winning industrial design firm in Boston, to refine the engineering and modern silhouette.
Pillar Pro™ is available now at yardhaus.co, with additional systems for trade and hospitality launching in 2026.
